Lithium Golf Cart Battery Conversion
Swapping a lead-acid pack for lithium is the single biggest upgrade you can make to a golf cart: more range, faster charging, no watering or corrosion, and 200–400 pounds less weight. Delray Golf Carts does lithium conversions in-house for every major brand, with the battery management system properly integrated into the cart's controller and charger — not just dropped in.

What a proper lithium conversion includes
- Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) pack sized for your cart's voltage — 36V, 48V, 51.2V, 72V, or 76.8V
- Battery management system (BMS) with charge/discharge protection, cell balancing, and state-of-charge output
- Charger replaced or reprogrammed with a lithium charge profile
- Controller settings checked for the new voltage curve, with low-voltage cutoffs set correctly
- Battery gauge or display updated to read lithium state of charge
- Mounting hardware and cabling to the correct gauge; old lead-acid batteries recycled
Carts we convert
Club Car (Precedent, Onward, Tempo, DS), E-Z-GO (RXV, TXT, Liberty, Express), Yamaha (Drive2, UMAX), ICON, Evolution, Kandi, Bintelli, Star EV, Advanced EV, GEM, and Moke America. For carts with CAN-bus battery communication — Moke, GEM, and some Club Car models — we handle the protocol integration so the cart recognizes the new pack. That's work most shops can't do.
Why do it at an EV shop
A lithium pack with the wrong BMS settings, a lead-acid charger, or a controller that never learned the new voltage range will underperform or fail early. Our technicians work on Curtis and OEM controllers, CAN-bus battery systems, and Delta-Q and Lester chargers daily. The conversion is engineered, tested on the road, and warrantied.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does a lithium conversion cost?
- It depends on the cart's voltage, the range you want, and whether the charger needs replacing. Call or send us the year, make, and model for a quote the same day.
- How much more range will I get?
- A like-for-like lithium pack usually delivers 1.5–2× the usable range of the lead-acid pack it replaces, because lithium delivers nearly its full rated capacity and the cart is lighter.
- Will lithium damage my cart's controller or motor?
- Not when the pack is matched to the cart's nominal voltage and the controller limits are set correctly, which is part of every conversion we do.
- Do you pick up the cart?
- Yes. Pickup and return are free within 10 miles of our Delray Beach shop with an approved repair, and quoted by address beyond that across Palm Beach and Broward counties.
- How long does the work take?
- Most repairs are same-week. Lithium conversions and charging retrofits are typically scheduled within a week and completed in one to two days once parts are in hand.
