J1772 Level 2 Charging for Golf Carts
Electric cars charge at Level 2 stations everywhere — parking garages, hotels, restaurants, and home wall chargers. Golf carts and LSVs are usually stuck with a proprietary plug and a slow wall brick. Our J1772 retrofit adds a standard J1772 inlet and the control electronics the cart needs to charge from any Level 2 EVSE, so your cart charges where the cars do.

How the retrofit works
- Standard SAE J1772 inlet mounted in the body, with a weatherproof cap
- Control-pilot and proximity circuit so the EVSE recognizes the cart and closes the contactor
- Onboard charger matched to the pack voltage and sized to the current the EVSE can supply
- Charge interlock so the cart cannot drive away while plugged in
- Works with lithium or lead-acid packs; pairs well with a lithium conversion
Who it's for
Downtown Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach all have public Level 2 chargers within an LSV ride, and most new homes and condos now have an EV charger in the garage. If you drive your cart around town rather than only inside a community, a J1772 port means you can top up anywhere instead of planning every trip around the garage at home. It is also the cleanest charging setup for Moke, SpeedBX, and other LSVs that leave the house daily.
Compatible carts
SpeedBX, Edge EV, Moke America, Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, Evolution, GEM, and most other 48V–76.8V carts and LSVs. Send us the year, make, model, and battery type for a quote.
Frequently asked questions
- Will my cart charge faster with Level 2?
- Charging speed is set by the onboard charger, not the station. The retrofit lets you install a higher-output onboard charger if your pack supports it, which is where the time savings come from.
- Can I still use my original charger?
- Usually yes — we can keep the original port alongside the J1772 inlet, or replace it entirely. Most customers go J1772-only for simplicity.
- Does it work at Tesla chargers?
- At Tesla Destination chargers with a NACS plug you'd need a NACS-to-J1772 adapter; Superchargers (DC fast charging) are not compatible with any golf cart.
- Do you pick up the cart?
- Yes. Pickup and return are free within 10 miles of our Delray Beach shop with an approved repair, and quoted by address beyond that across Palm Beach and Broward counties.
- How long does the work take?
- Most repairs are same-week. Lithium conversions and charging retrofits are typically scheduled within a week and completed in one to two days once parts are in hand.
